Calhoun's Jewelers opened in Topeka, Kansas in August of 2004 by owners Doug and Curt Calhoun. In 2009, Calhoun's Jewelers moved from its original location in White Lakes Mall to Fleming Place Shopping Center, where it thrived.  Calhoun's soon outgrew the shopping center and relocated to their own freestanding building at 18th and Gage in 2016.

Doug Calhoun started in the jewelry business in 1978 at Wolf’s Jewelers in White Lakes Mall where he worked his way up from Sales Associate to Store Manager.  Doug left Wolf’s Jewelers in 1985 to become a full time student at Gem City College of Horology.  There he was taught jewelry design and fabrication.  After graduating, Doug began working as a subcontracted jeweler.  In 1987, Doug’s brother Curt Calhoun joined him in subcontracting jewelry repair and creation for a majority of the retail jewelry stores in Topeka and many in the Kansas City area.  17 years later, they opened their own jewelry store - Calhoun’s Jewelers.

Curt’s sons CJ and Alex have also joined the family business as jewelers.  CJ Calhoun earned his certification from Jewelers of America in 2012, becoming the only Certified Bench Jeweler in Topeka.
